Hunewill Ranch
The wide open meadows of the Hunewill Ranch, bordered by spectacular mountain peaks, offer world class horseback riding. Equestrians of all levels and ages enjoy the variety of terrain and the different rides offered. With over 100 horses to choose from, a great match is almost guaranteed between horse & rider. Beginning, intermediate, advanced, and adult walking rides go out at 9:00 a.m. and at 2:00 p.m. Rides are not nose to tail, and loping is offered to all who want to experience it. Moving cattle is available at least once during every stay. Those who want more cattle work should try one of the following stays; Spring Cattle Work, Fall Cattle Work, Big Fall Cattle Gather, or Hunewill Ranch Cattle Drive in November. Private horse corrals are provided for those who prefer to bring their own horse.
Evening activities include roping practice, square dancing, hay ride, talent night, game night, colt gentling, and campfire with singing. Hiking, fishing, and site seeing are also available. Guests stay in comfortable cottages with private bath and porch. Upscale home style meals are served in the dining room which is part of the original Victorian style ranch house, built in 1880.
Hunewill Ranch is located 2 hours south of Reno, Nevada and 1/2 hour from the border of Yosemite National Park. Family owned and operated since 1861, it is a working cattle ranch that has been providing the opportunity to make lifelong memories for guests since 1931. The ranch is open from the end of May to the middle of October; and in November for the annual cattle drive to the winter ranch. Rates include meals, lodging, horseback riding and evening activities.

Later, around the campfire, our experienced tracker guides will share their knowledge of the wild horses and other wildlife. Learn about the social behavior of the horses and their current struggle.
