What do all these horses and riders have in common, other than being beautifully turned out for one of the top Iberian horse shows in the world? Prize money!
As the top competitor in their respective divisions, each of them returned home from last year’s Andalusian World Cup (AWC) with substantial prize money, in addition to trophies, product baskets, or other awards. Event organizers for the 2016 AWC say this year will be even bigger and better, leaving the Iberian horse world is eager to see who will be the new top earners come September.
“We are excited to announce that this year’s show will have a more extensive offering of prize money and other awards than ever before,” says Amber Lentz, co-founder of Andalusian World. “Significant cash prizes will be awarded for the Supreme Championship classes and the Working Equitation divisions. And, we will be offering $5,000 total prize money for the ANCCE division — this is for the very first time at an ANCCE-sanctioned show in the US,” Lentz continues. Additionally, the show will give out an impressive array of other non-cash award to competitors, including a custom Dale Chavez show saddle for the Western Pleasure Supreme Champion, and a Relvas Portuguese saddle from Iberian Connection awarded via random draw among Working Equitation competitors.
Scheduled for September 21-24, 2016 at the world class South Point Arena and Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, the Andalusian World Cup draws a sizeable audience from across the U.S., Mexico, Canada and parts of Europe. The show is open to all horses with papers from any recognized Iberian Horse registry, including Andalusian, P.R.E., Lusitano, Azteca and many other crosses. The Dressage and Working Equitation competitions are open to all breeds. Competition begins Wednesday, September 21 with Dressage. AWC, ANCCE and Working Equitation competitions run Thursday through Saturday, September 22-24.
The Foundation for the Pure Spanish Horse will hold a luncheon and silent auction Saturday afternoon, and USPRE will host a wine and cheese reception prior to the evening classes. Saturday evening will feature a hat contest and exhibition performances, in addition to the Supreme Championship classes. And, if you’ve always wanted to be a show VIP but didn’t have the funds, Andalusian World will be raffling off one of the show’s premier VIP tables to one lucky winner on September 21. Tickets are $25 each, or 5 for $100, and will be available online prior to the show and also at the show office.
In addition to PSL classes, the Associacao Portuguesa de Criadores do Puro Sangue Lusitano (APSL) will conduct an official Lusitano inspection on Friday, September 23 beginning at 4:00 pm. (For information on the APSL Inspection, contact Sharon Mohr at firstname.lastname@example.org.)
Several volunteer positions are still open; contact Andalusian World for details. The official AWC show program advertising deadline is August 15, 2016. For complete show information go to: http://andalusianworld.com/awc.
